Jaipur: A constable stopped DCP for not wearing a seat belt and demanded a bribe. The incident in Jaipur came amid allegations that the police stationed at the traffic junction were harassing people. The Deputy Commissioner of Police who came in Mufti himself knew the truth. First he wrote a receipt for not wearing a seat belt and then demanded a bribe of Rs 500 to cancel the challan. In the incident, Constable Rajendra Prasad was suspended and three other policemen were sent to the police line.
The DCP, along with his gunman and driver, reached the Transport Nagar Police Station area in Mufti Rotary Circle. He did not wear a seat belt and asked the DCP to pay the challan. Later, Rajendra Prasad said that if he wants to get rid of the challan, Rs. 500 is enough. The DCP, who came to assess the policemen's performance, lifted Rajendra Prasad with his hand. The explanation of the police officials is that the constable could not identify even his senior officers, and that is how the checks are being conducted.
Deputy Commissioner Kailash Chandra Bishnoi said that information has been sought from the ACP and an inquiry has been directed. Chandra Bose has been suspended with immediate effect. It was suggested that check post checks be tightened. The visit was to check its operation. In view of the increase in theft and robbery, check points have been established and night patrols have been strengthened. But the DCP also said that there should be more checks at such check points.
