In response to the rising number of cases of coronavirus in Delhi and the crisis of the medical facilities, a one week complete lockdown has been announced. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, addressed the capital today as he announced the lockdown.
In his addressing speech, Arvind Kejriwal said he wants all the people to know the real situation in Delhi. He said that there has been a shortage of medications, ICU beds and also oxygen cylinders in Delhi. Taking the matter into serious consideration, the lockdown has been imposed from 10pm tonight till the next week. The necessary operations will continue to work with the use of an epass. Healthcare workers and other COVID warriors will be allowed to commute during the lockdown.
Also, Arvind Kejriwal requested the migrant workers to not go to their hometowns as it is a short lockdown. He added that this decision has been taken to protect the people of the capital and not worse the condition here. "In the last 24 hours, around 23,500 cases were reported. In last 3-4 days, around 25,000 cases have been reported. Positivity rate&infection have increased. If 25,000 patients come every day then system will crumble, there's a shortage of beds," concluded CM Arvind Kejriwal
