Dakshina Kannada District Women’s Congress held silent protest against the use of EVM
The candidates of Dakshina Kannada District Women’s Congress conduct a silent protest on the use of EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in polls and started a postcard campaign.
The members were stating that the EVMs should be removed from the electoral system and ballot papers should be re-established.
The District Women’s Congress President Shalet Pinto informed that after the institution of EVMs, people had lost their hope on democracy as one could change with these machines. Even the developed countries also still utilizing ballot papers for elections, EVMs must be removed and ballot papers are re-introduced in our county, she said.
She also said that postcard canvass against the use of EVMs has been begun over the state and held one lakh postcards would be sent to the President of India asking him to eliminate EVMs from the electoral system.
District women’s Congress Vice President Bharathi B M, Mangaluru Town Block women’s President Shanthala Gatti, and other members, Jesintha Vijaya, Appi, Sabitha Miskith, Akhila Alva, Rathikala, Prameela Devediga between others were present.
