Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Killi Krupa Rani is likely to join YSRCP. Sources say that she called on YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Latter’s Lotus Pond residence and conveyed her decision to join the party formally at Amaravati on Feb 28th.
Krupa Rani is not active in Congress party politics in the state for a while and her joining into YSRCP may boost the cadre in Srikakulam district. Rumours are rife in political circles that she may either contest from Tekkali assembly constituency or from Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency. Krupa Rani was elected to Lok Sabha from Srikakulam constituency in 2009 but lost polls in 2014.
Speaking to media after the formal meeting with Jagan, Krupa Rani said that, “I was impressed with the style of Functioning of Jagan Mohan Reddy and his commitment for the welfare of marginalized sections of the society.”
Krupa Rani also alleged Chandrababu Naidu of taking U-turn on the issue of special category status to AP.
