Former cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has criticized the song Yentamma from the upcoming Bollywood movie Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The song features actors Salman Khan, Venkatesh Daggubati, Ram Charan, and Pooja Hegde. In the song, Salman, Ram, and Venkatesh wear yellow shirts and white dhotis while dancing to the tune. Sung by Vishal Dadlani and Payal Dev, the song's lyrics were by Shabbir Ahmed.
A video clip of Salman dancing to the song was shared on Twitter by a user, prompting Laxman to tweet his displeasure. He wrote,
This is highly ridiculous and degrading our South Indian culture. This is not a LUNGI , THIS IS A DHOTI. A classical outfit which is being shown in a DISGUSTING MANNER https://t.co/c9E0T2gf2d

Another Twitter user criticized the scene, pointing out that the actors were wearing shoes on the temple premises. Laxman responded,
Nowadays people do anything for money. Won’t they research what is a Lungi and a Dhoti. Even if it’s a set, it’s being projected as a temple. People associated with the movie should realise, no footwear inside the temple premises. Appealing to @CBFC_India to consider to BAN this

Prashanth Ranagswamy, a well-known Tamil critic, also expressed his displeasure with the song "lungi step" on Twitter. "What kind of step is this? They're calling veshti a lungi and doing some sick move by putting their hands inside it. Worst," he wrote. Another Twitter user called for Bollywood to be educated about the difference between a lungi and a veshti. They expressed frustration at seeing vulgar dance moves performed in traditional wear.
Laxman also addressed the issue of Bollywood's portrayal of South Indian culture. He stated that if not for South Indians, who occupy prominent positions in Mumbai's corporate world, they would struggle. Directed by Farhad Samji, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is based on Ajith Kumar's Tamil blockbuster Veeram and is set to release this Eid.
