Gauri Lankesh Case: Court issues summons to Rahul Gandhi, Yechury over comments after Lankesh murder

A Mumbai court has issued defamation notice against Rahul Gandhi & Sitaram Yechury for making allegations against RSS over Gauri Lankesh murder in a defamation case filed by an RSS worker.

A criminal defamation case was filed by an advocate, Dhrutman Joshi.

The court had rejected the complainant’s stand that Sonia Gandhi was also liable for Rahul's statement as the then president of the party.

After the 2017 murder of Gauri Lankesh, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted: Spoke to the CM of Karnataka and mentioned that it's very important that people who have murdered Gauri Lankesh are caught and punished.

Anybody who speaks against the RSS/BJP is attacked & even killed. They want to impose only one ideology which is against the nature of India," he added, in a second tweet.

Next date of hearing is March 25, the court has asked them to appear before it in person.

Gauri Lankesh was shot dead outside her house in Bengaluru in September 2017, allegedly by the members of a right-wing extremist group.
