On Monday Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced and committed a 10 billion dollar digitization fund for India's digital economy. In his statement, Pichai said that India no longer needs to wait for the rest of the world for new technology. Pichai also said that digitizing India's economy will also help teachers and students around the country.
In a transcript of the interview published by India, Tv Pichai is reported to have said, "Growing up, technology provided a window to a world outside my own. It also brought us closer together as a family. Every evening we were drawn to the television by Doordarshan's special rendition of 'Sare Jahan Se Accha'. I tried to explain this to my colleagues the other day, but I eventually gave up and just showed it to them on YouTube." Sundar Pichai was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
"When I was young, every new piece of technology brought new opportunities to learn and grow. But I always had to wait for it to arrive from someplace else. Today, people in India no longer have to wait for technology to come to you. A whole new generation of technologies is happening in India first," he added.
Pichai said that one of the biggest difficulties that Coronavirus pandemic has brought is not being able to meet the people we love. Pichai also addressed lifting the lives of those living in rural areas in India. Pichai also addressed the 2500 Indian YouTube content creators who have more than a million subscribers.
