Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan was granted anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court in a case filed against him for his remarks on Mahatma Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse.
Calling Mahatma Gandhi a "superstar", Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan on Sunday said, "I cannot change my hero, can't accept the villain as hero." Haasan further said that he has been repeatedly reading about Gandhi and his life. This comes days after Haasan had said that free India's first extremist was a Hindu, naming Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse.
The case was filed by the Hindu Munnani party. Haasan had earlier said in bypoll bound Aravakurichi, "I am not saying this because this is a Muslim dominated area, but I am saying this before a statue of Gandhi. Free India's first extremist was a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse. There it (extremism) starts."
