Madras High Court grants anticipatory bail to Director Pa. Ranjith
The Madurai board of the Madras High court has granted anticipatory bail to the director Pa. Ranjith, who apprehended arrest because of his comments about the Raja Raja Cholan.
Justice P. Rajamanickam noticed that a judicial inquiry was not necessary in the case. The court asked the Ranjith not to make such “unnecessary remarks” in the future and closed the prevailing petitions.
In this case, Mr. Ranjith told the execution point was that he had incited enmity in his statement, delivered by the death anniversary of the founder of Neelapuligal Iyakkam, at Thirupanandal in Thanjavur district. in opposition to demands against him, Mr. Ranjith expressed that he had only talked over the problems raised by Mani in his book, Senthamizh Nattu Cherigal, and it was not his purpose to induce enmity among groups. The Thirupanandal police had filed a case against him.
