MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor alleges that Karnataka is in darkness under coalition government

The Dakshina Kannada district BJP President and Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor has declared that Karnataka was in darkness under the Congress-JDS coalition government.

Talking to news reporters at BJP office, Mantandoor expressed, “Though the coalition government has completed a year, no major development works were taken up in the past one year. Though the MLAs were assured of providing Rs 2 crore for the development works in their respective constituencies, only Rs 50 lakh has been provided so far. Hence, the MLAs are also not able to undertake any major developmental works”.

About the drinking water problems in the district, Mantandoor told, “Though the district is facing acute shortage of drinking water, the district water, the district in-charge minister is not responding to the grievances of the public. No projects have been taken up under the Pashchimavahini project though the district is facing acute shortage of drinking water. The slit is also not removed from the rivers, stormwater drains and culverts which would lead to an artificial flood. The district in-charge minister and deputy commissioner of the district would be held responsible if artificial floods occur during the next monsoon”.

When questioned about the Yettinahole Project, Matandoor advised that all the seven BJP MLAs of the district would be against the “unscientific” Yettinahole Project. “We ready to protest in order to stop the project. We will discuss with our leaders to decide whether to hold protests inside the Assembly or outside shortly in this regard”, he said.

Mangaluru North MLA Dr. Y Bharath Shetty and other BJP leaders Sanjay Prabhu, Ravishankar Mijar are present there.
