Raja Singh, the BJP's only MLA in Telangana has made a controversial statement on Indian tennis star Sania Mirza who is the brand ambassador for the State. The MLA urged that Pakistan's Bahu should be removed from the respective stature in the view of Pulwama attack on CRPF jawans.
"I respect the decision of Telangana CM KCR to call off his birthday celebrations as a mark of respect to the soldiers who lost their lives in Pulwama terror attack. But I condemn Sania Mirza the Pakistani’s daughter-in-law to be the State’s brand ambassador. I urge the CM to terminate Sania from the statue with immediate effect and bestow the same to highly talented players like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu who are from the State," posted Raja Singh in a selfie video. Earlier BJP State president Laxman has also made similar comments and received strong disapproval on social media.
On the contrary, Sania gave a quick hit back to those who are criticizing her patriotism. “I have immense respect for India and I does not have to showcase my patriotism loudly on social media for others. I lived all the way through to get a name for my country. All the judgemental eyes on the internet should calm down and understand that not everyone lives to impress people,” read her post on the Twitter handle.
