Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday offered prayers at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala near Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati. He was accompanied by his nephew Raihan Vadra, son of Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra on his two-hour-long hike to the top.
Rahul Gandhi was received by the temple officials at its main entrance and later made a brief halt at the heavily guarded Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam guest house situated atop the hill before proceeding to the temple.
After worshipping Lord Venkateshwara at the temple between 3pm-4pm, Rahul Gandhi reached Tirupati by road and joined the party’s ‘Pratheyka Bharosa Yatra’ near Jyothi Rao Phule circle, from where he reached the public meeting venue at the Tarakarama Stadium in Tirupati around 5 pm in the evening.
Tirupati urban police wing has made elaborate security arrangements for Rahul Gandhi’s tour to Tirumala and Tirupati on Friday.
