Hearing of Sachin Pilot's petition in Rajasthan High Court was adjourned within minutes
The Rajasthan High Court has begun hearing into the petition filed by Sachin Pilot and his group of rebel MLAs against the disqualification notices issued by the Speaker
Rajasthan Assembly Speaker C P Joshi had on Tuesday sent out disqualification notices to Pilot and 18 other dissident MLAs on the basis of the complaint made by the Congress.
It wanted action under paragraph 2 (1) (a) of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, which disqualifies MLAs if “voluntarily” give up the membership of the party which they represent in the House.
Sachin Pilot has been inactive since the Congress picked Gehlot for the chief minister's post after the 2018 assembly elections.
Randeep Singh went ahead and invited Sachin Pilot to come back. Rahul Gandhi is also making efforts to placate Sachin Pilot and have asked Congress members to reach out to him.
In the 200-member assembly total, the Congress has 107 MLAs and the BJP 72.
