Rajasthan Royals to trade Rahane to Delhi Capitals?
Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals are in talks with Rajasthan Royals to sign Ajinkya Rahane for the 2020 season, as per reports. Rahane captained the Royals in this year’s season and failed miserably with both bat and captaincy.
He was sacked as captain to give Australian former captain Steve Smith the lead. If at all, the DC manages to secure Rahane’s services for the next IPL edition, it will be another big move from the franchise after getting hold of Shikhar Dhawan last season.
The left-handed opener ended up amassing 521 runs even as Delhi Capitals also managed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Delhi Capitals have already traded Rutherford for Markande.
However, in a dramatic turn of events, it has been reported now that the Delhi franchise is looking to pick Rajasthan Royals’ Ajinkya Rahane for the next season.
Rahane, who has played seven seasons with Rajasthan Royals, captained the side in the majority of the 2019 season before stepping down and being replaced by Steve Smith. Rahane has scored 3,820 runs in 140 IPL matches.
