Any decision regarding her court case against LDF convener A. Vijayaraghavan would be taken after discussions with UDF leaders, Ramya Haridas, the UDF candidate who scripted a win in Alathur by a margin of over 1.58 lakh votes, said on Monday.
Addressing a meet-the-press programme organised by the Press Club, Ms. Haridas said she had filed the complaint against Mr. Vijayaraghavan, for making disparaging remarks against her, after discussions with the UDF. The case is in court now, she said.
The incident had caused her mental agony, but she was able to overcome it with the support extended by the people of Alathur, the former block panchayat president said.
On the comment made by author Deepa Nishant that fighting an election is not like attending singing contests, referring to her musical skills, Ms. Haridas said she hoped that Ms. Nishant also had voted for her.
Ms. Haridas rounded off the press conference by singing a few lines of a Malayalam film song and a Hindi song, the latter learned from participants from Chhattisgarh during the Plachimada struggle.
