Simon Katich replaces Gary Kristen as RCB head coach
Royal Challengers Bangalore have sacked head coach Gary Kirsten and bowling coach Ashish Nehra. Kirsten has been replaced by Simon Katich, while former Kings XI Punjab head coach Mike Hesson has been appointed as director of cricket operations.
As the Director of Cricket Operations, Hesson will be responsible for the overall RCB cricket operations including defining policy, strategy, programs, scouting, performance management and bringing in best practices throughout all aspects of the RCB's cricketing pathway. He will be the one who finds and encourages new talent.
Kirsten previously worked with Delhi DareDevils, (now Delhi Capitals) in the same position and was sacked as the team was under-performed in his coaching. Now the same thing happened with the Challengers and this Kirsten is the head coach of the Team India’s World Cup-winning team in 2011.
On the other side, Hesson had given Ravi Shastri a run for his money in the race to be appointed India's head coach last week. Katich is the most reputed Australian batsman in whom RCB hopes for the change in their fate.
