Sri Lanka Prime Minister Visits Tirumala?
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived for a two-day visit to offer his prayers to Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala on Saturday. Before paying obeisance to Lord Venkateshwara, the 73-year-old Prime Minister performed ages-old ‘Tulabharam’ ritual.
On the arrival at the main entrance of Tirumala, Mr. Wickremesinghe and his wife Maitree were accorded a traditional welcome by the temple priests and top functionaries of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Earlier, Sri Lankan Prime Minister arrived at Chennai airport where they were received by the officials concerned and later, they were flown to Tirupati airport by a special Helicopter. On the behalf of the State Government, N. Amarnath Reddy and other district officials accorded a warm welcome to the visiting Prime Minister couple.
Ranil Wickremesinghe as a devotee sits in a balance and offer grocery items, precious metals equal to his body weight and offered it to TTD as part of Tulabharam. It is learned that it is the fourth visit to MR. Wickremesinghe at the Tirumala Temple, officials said.
