State government to begin cloud seeding on July second week

As the state is facing worst-ever drought conditions, the state government has decided to follow cloud seeding from the July second week.

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Krishna Byre Gowda advised that the state has asked permission from the Central government for the cloud seeding. “But till now, the Centre has not issued permission,” he said.

“One of the reasons may be that all three Air Traffic Controls (ATC) in Bangalore are busy. So, we are seeing to coordinate with the Central government to start the cloud seeding work at the earliest,” he said.

As per the sources compared to previously, the sowing work develops only in 35% of the farming lands over the state. An agriculture department officer said “The situation is very grim. Even the Malnad districts including Kodagu, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru are facing the worst-ever floods.”
