Striking junior doctors turn down Mamata’s invite for talks

Doctors turned down CM Mamata Banerjee's invitation for a meeting at the state secretariat, which was called to resolved the impasse, and continued their protest for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday.

The doctors, who are protesting against the assault on two of their colleagues at NRS Medical College and Hospital, sought an unconditional apology from Banerjee and set 6 conditions for the state government in order to withdraw their stir.

"She will have to come to the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital and deliver an unconditional apology for her comments made during her visit to the SSKM Hospital on Thursday," Arindam Dutta, spokesperson of the joint forum of junior doctors, told PTI.

"If she can go to the SSKM she can also come to the NRS... or else this agitation will go on," Dutta said.

Banerjee, who visited the state-run SSKM Hospital on Thursday amid slogans of "we want justice", had contended that outsiders were creating disturbances in the medical colleges and the ongoing agitation is a conspiracy by the CPI(M) and the BJP.

Meanwhile, Medical practitioners at AIIMS Delhi on Saturday called off their protest and gave a 48-hour ultimatum to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to fulfil the demands. Mr Mukherjee along with other senior doctors, who were not part of the agitation, met Ms Banerjee on Friday. They held a two-hour-long meeting with the Chief Minister at the secretariat to find a solution to the ongoing problem. In their ultimatum, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) at AIIMS stated that if the demands are not met within 48 hours, they would be forced to resort to an indefinite strike at the Delhi hospital. On Friday, doctors of several hospitals across the country such as AIIMS of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana went on a strike in solidarity with the doctors of West Bengal, demanding safe environment for them.

Today’s interactive game is Lotería. It is a traditional Mexican card game, almost like bingo. It is a multiplayer experience. You can invite your friends or play with random opponents. Perlo Campos, the global marketing lead of Google Doodle, created the game in December 2019. Luisito Comunica, popular Mexican YouTuber, brings the game alive with his narration. 106 years ago, the game was first copyrighted in Mexico. The traditional game is still very popular today across Mexico and Latinx communities. The simple game bodes well as a language teaching tool on family game nights.

Google, the most widely used search engine in the world, releases fun and quirky doodles once in a while. Usually, they commemorate historic events or birthdays of notable figures. The doodles depict dates such as the holidays, father’s days, mother’s day, Valentine's day, and so on. By the early 2010s, Google released its first interactive and video doodles. COVID- 19 FREE countries as of today

COVID- 19 virus spread, which began in Wuhan, China, now caught on to most parts of the world. The majority of governments blame the WHO for not imposing travel bans early on when Wuhan first reported the crisis. This is now a full-blown global pandemic, which has brought our economies to halt. Countries have no choice other than resorting to lockdown their citizens to their homes to stay safe and reduce further spread of the virus. Many countries shut their borders. The economies will face a major backlash if the spread isn’t curbed anytime soon.

cases reported all over the globe are on a rise, and we are losing this battle against the virus, by the looks of it. Circumstances are looking uncertain and this is creating anxiety everywhere. Although there is a good rate of recovery, the number of people contracting the virus is not reducing. Scientists are working vigorously in most nations trying to invent a cure/vaccine for COVID-19.

In this background, here’s a list of countries that have not reported even a single positive COVID- 19 case :

Lesotho and Comoros in Africa.
Kiribati in the Middle East.
Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru and Samoa in Oceania.
North Korea.
Tajikistan.
Tonga.
Turkmenistan.
Tuvalu.
Vanuatu

There are various reports, studying the reason for this trend. This is essential for understanding how to secure our nations even more wisely. But many scholars believe that these are distant locations which haven’t attracted any tourism for long periods, and continue to do so. A few countries are being accused of not reporting the real situation. Few others seem to have no testing kits or facilities to handle the situation. Most of the above-mentioned countries contain low levels of the population. A few including Kiribati, Nauru, and Tonga, already declared a national emergency to avoid contracting the virus.

New Zealand is one such country that has completely recovered from the hit of COVID- 19. They have successfully contained the community spread of COVID- 19 and can now begin to ease their lockdown measures. Yemen, on the other hand, has reportedly only a single case.
