Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects on the second day of his visit to Gujarat. He inaugurated the first service of the Gandhi Nagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat train and the first phase of the Ahmedabad Metro.
Connecting the capital cities of Maharashtra and Gujarat, this train is the third Vande Bharat Express in the country. Vandebharat trains are currently operating on the New Delhi-Varanasi route. This is along with the New Delhi-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra route. The Prime Minister had earlier announced that 75 Vande Bharat trains will start service. This will be connecting various cities of the country before August 15, 2023.
The Prime Minister travelled by Vande Bharat train from Gandhi Nagar to Kalupur station. He then addressed a public meeting in Ahmedabad. He also announced that Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad would be developed like the American cities of New Jersey and New York. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in Gujarat.
In Gujarat, Modi's home state, the assembly elections are going to be held in December. The BJP is trying hard to repeat its victory in Gujarat, where it has been in power for three decades.
Vandebharat Express is a modern train with facilities similar to airplanes. This train has safety systems including KAVACH. This is an innovative technology to avoid train collisions.
Even though the Vande Bharat Superfast Express was inaugurated today, regular service will begin tomorrow. Vandebharat service will be available six days a week except Sunday.
