Addressing the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Azerbaijan, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said that Pakistan is the "contemporary epicenter" of terrorism. Naidu added that in order to gain the confidence of the international community, Pakistan must "decisively abjure terrorism".
This comes after the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) warned Pakistan to control terror funding. He urged all the NAM partners to come forward and forge a united front against terrorism. "There should be zero tolerance towards terrorism," said Naidu at NAM.
“All of us in the NAM focused on meeting our developmental goals and aspirations. Pakistan clearly needs to do much more to earn the confidence of the international community. It must decisively abjure terrorism - for its own good, for that of its neighbors and for the good of the world,” the Vice President said.
Naidu’s statement comes after Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) last week issued an ultimatum to Pakistan at its five-day plenary by putting the country on the ‘Grey List’ again.
