After registering an exhilarating partnership with Rohit Sharma in the final ODI against England, team India captain said he will be opening the innings with the bat for RCB in the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Virat’s promotion up the order yielded rich dividends for team India yesterday as he played the anchor role while Rohit operated as the aggressor and the duo gave the men in blue a dream start. Kohli score 80 off just 52 balls and held up one end while those who came later batted around him.
Kohli seemed to have enjoyed opening the innings for India and stated he will be doing the same for his IPL franchise RCB as well.
“Opening the innings is in a way, a change of team formation and lineup. I enjoyed batting up the order and will be opening the innings for RCB as well. This is all a part of the preparations for the next T20 World Cup,” he commented.
It seems to be that team India fans will be treated to some delightful partnerships between Rohit and Kohli, two of India’s best batsmen in the forthcoming T20Is and the World Cup as well.
Kohli is likely to pair with Devdutt Padikkal at the top of the innings while he plays for RCB. It is known that this isn’t the first time the star player is opening the innings inT20 format. He previously partnered with Chris Gayle and produced a few fine innings’.
