What is the story behind Krishna-Godavari linkage?
It looks like there happens to be more than what is being seen in the meeting that was conducted to discuss about the water sharing scheme between KCR and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led governments in Telangana and AP respectively.
While it is being openly said that the main reason behind this proposal is to ensure that every corner of both the states gets water and that water scarcity never remains a problem in both the states. Also, reports say that this is not the only reason behind the proposals.
If reports are said to be believed, as this linkage project is cost intensive, there is huge scope for swindling of money. If the plan is to be believed, it is said that water from the Godavari has to be diverted to Srisailam in order to make up the less water in the Krishna river. With this hardship in the Rayalaseema region in AP, Palamuru is united with Nalgonda districts in Telangana.
Already officials have been ordered to bring a report on how to divert this water. According to reports, a series of barrages must have to be built between Prakasam barrage and Srisailam. Through this water can be reverse pumped to Pulichintala, Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam.
Actually, by redesigning the Kaleshwaram Project, KCR fetched huge monetary benefits. If this plan to gets right, these might be the money cows for both KCR and Jagan according to reports.
