Mani Ratnam, the great director, has fulfilled the wishes of millions by making a film based on the novel 'Ponniyin Selvan.' The historic picture is also a big endeavor for the director. The first installment is set to hit theatres this week on September 30. 'Ponniyin Selvan' is based on the novel of the same name and describes the Cholas' historical story. Fans are concerned about the film's presentation, as certain cinematic presentations can lead to factual inaccuracy.
A Srilankan fan has discovered a factual error in the Hindi trailer of Ponniyin Selvan. The dialogue at 1:50 refers to Srilankan as Sinhala (Sinhala country). Disappointed by this mistake in the Hindi trailer, a fan explained the plight of Tamil-speaking people in Sri Lanka. Srilanka is not a Simhala nation and it is an injustice to the Tamil-speaking multitude of Sri Lanka, says the author of the letter. As a result, the fan has written to the producers requesting that the wording in the trailer and film be adjusted as soon as possible. The e-version of the letter has gone viral on social media. We can hope that the makers of 'Ponniyin Selvan address the film's factual inaccuracies to avoid additional controversy.
