Actress Shabana Azmi Admits Not Knowing How To Cook

Actress Shabana Azmi recently admitted in an interview that she is not a good cook. Shabana revealed that her lyricist-husband, Javed Akhtar, and his children, filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, are not fans of her cooking. They even run away from the kitchen when she enters. Shabana joked that her cooking talent is limited to burning food.

Shabana and Javed Akhtar got married in 1984. He had two children, Farhan and Zoya, from his first marriage with Honey Irani. Speaking with YouTuber Kamiya Jani of Curly Tales, Shabana discussed her family's reaction to her cooking skills. She humorously commented that even if she were asked to stir the best dish in the world, it would end up burnt if she was alone in the kitchen. Shabana also mentioned that only her father, Kaifi Azmi, would appreciate her cooking, even if it was uncooked. However, Javed, Farhan, Zoya, Baba, and Tanvi, the wife of Shabana's brother, are the first to run away from her cooking. In the same interview, Shabana revealed that she and Javed had attempted to break up several times because of his children from his previous marriage. She also discussed the challenges and difficulties they faced as Javed was married when they fell in love.
