Two of the most adored stars in Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt get along well. They became closer when the actor from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil took on Dutt's role in the movie Sanju about the actor. Rajkumar Hirani served as the film's director, and it was released in 2018. Fans continue to praise Ranbir for his performance in Sanju and have even labeled it the finest of his career. Ranbir's likeness to Dutt in the movie was remarkable.
Ranbir has discussed about a "Sanjay Dutt effect" following his performance in Sanju. The actor from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani stated, "I've never taken a role to home. Even still, it took me some time to recover from my Sanjay Dutt effect after watching Sanju. This is due to the fact that I began to move like him, smile like him, and have eyes like him. There was no other film that took me this while." Shamshera, a historical action movie directed by Karan Malhotra and starring Vaani Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla, and Ashutosh Rana, would have Ranbir and Sanjay sharing screen time. The movie will debut in theatres on July 22, 2022.
In the meantime, Ranbir has a ton of movies in the line. He will appear in the fantasy movie Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring his wife Alia Bhatt. As the first installment of a planned trilogy set in the Astraverse, the movie is meant to serve as the start of that universe. The actor will then star alongside Rashmika Mandanna in Sandeep Vanga's crime thriller Animal. After that, he will appear in Luv Ranjan's untitled movie opposite Shraddha Kapoor.
