Every year Forbes releases its '100 List of World’s Highest-Paid Celebs' every year. For 2020 the only celebrity from India is Houseful actor Akshay Kumar. Though Kumar got bumped from his earlier 33 position to 52nd one. Forbes revealed that it is all due to COVID-19. The virus along with the lockdown has stalled film shootings and pushed back release dates. Entertainment industry is taking its biggest hit due to this pandemic. Forbes calculates Akshay’s earnings to be at USD 48.5 Million between the period of June 2019 to May 2020
Kumar slipped 19 positions on the Forbes 100 List of highest-paid celebs, Forbes said the virus has a big impact on the list of this year. Another reason why he made it to the list is his deal with OTT giant Amazon Prime for his web series The End. Akshay took home USD 10 million for this one deal alone. He also made good money from films like Bachchan Pandey and Bell Bottom. Other celebrities that topped him were Jennifer Lopez, Adam Sandler, Jackie Chan, and more.
The top ten names include Kylie Jenner, Kanye West, Roger Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo, and more. Akshay has been of big help amidst these circumstances. He donated 25 Crore to the PM-CARES Fund to help those suffering from the impact of Coronavirus. Many other celebrities like Sonu Sood, Priyanka Chopra, celebrities over the world as well have been taking up challenges and donating money to help all those in need during this time.
