Alia Bhatt's portrayal in Gangubai Kathiawadi has received appreciation from actress Sophia Di Martino. She is most known for her role as Sylvie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Loki actor praised Alia in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie on Instagram Stories.
After watching Gangubai Kathiawadi, Sophia posted the movie's official poster to her Instagram Stories. She added the caption, “Woahhh. What a turn. @aliabhatt is going to take over the world in about a minute and a half #GangubaiKathiawadi.” Alia quickly thanked Sophia for the kind gesture. And she uploaded a screenshot of her Instagram story with the caption. It read, “This means so much from someone who is about to take over a whole multiverse.”
The same story was subsequently reposted by Sophia on her Instagram with the caption "Casual Fan Girling over here."
Alia played the lead role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film also featured Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, and Seema Pahwa as the supporting characters. This film is also one of the few Bollywood movies to enter the 100-crore club this year. It centers on a girl who is sold into prostitution by a suitor and how she later rises to prominence in Mumbai's Kamathipura, or red-light district.
Sanjay spoke at a unique BAFTA Masterclass last month to kick off the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) promotion for the movie. The event had a packed audience. It was hosted by British novelist and former SOAS, University of London professor of Indian Cultures and Cinema, Rachel Dwyer. The world's top fashion and art school has invited him to speak as the first Indian artist ever. Additionally, on November 30, he went to see Gangubai Kathiawadi at Prince Charles.
Alia will next feature in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi will also feature in the film. The movie will hit the screens in theatres beginning on April 28, 2023. Also, Alia has the Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra-starrer Jee Le Zara from director Farhan Akhtar. She also has Heart of Stone, her first Hollywood film, in addition to this. Jamie Dornan and Gal Gadot are also featured in the Netflix movie.
