After the CBI conducted a comprehensive investigation into her daughter's suicide, the Bombay High Court issued an order claiming that late actor Jiah Khan's mother, Rabia Khan abused the legal system to postpone the trial. Rabia Khan, however, is adamant that her daughter's death was actually a murder rather than a suicide.
In reference to the court's directive, Sooraj Pancholi said: "I have been battling this case and these false accusations against me for the past 10 years now, and it has deeply affected me as a person, only I know what I have been going through all these years. I have immense respect and I have always maintained my dignity toward Jiah’s family. I plead that her family and I both have a fair trial and I pray that this comes to an end soon."
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been looking into the issue and has accused Jiah's boyfriend, Sooraj Pancholi, of encouraging her suicide on June 3, 2013. In its ruling, the bench noted that the central agency had conducted a thorough examination from all perspectives and concluded that it was a suicide case.
