Brahmastra, the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starring movie by Ayan Mukherji, is becoming more popular every day. Along with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone making brief appearances, the Dharma Productions project also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. If the cast alone wasn't enough, the movie, which is set to hit theaters this Friday, has been garnering media attention in the lead-up to it. But it remains to be seen whether the excitement and buzz surrounding Brahmastra will convert into box office success.
To calm tensions, the movie's creators are taking no chances. From statewide advertising to securing the best release, the Karan Johar-led production company has been working nonstop. Recently, rumors have surfaced that Brahmastra will have a successful debut even outside. In fact, Brahmastra will have the broadest release of any Bollywood movie in Australia's export industry, playing on an astounding 300 screens. And if that weren't enough, Brahmastra will debut in Australia's Palace Cinemas art house chain, marking yet another first for an Indian movie, in addition to the Hoyts, Event, and Village networks.
Brahmastra is expected to premiere in Australia in a number of languages and is expected to have a strong opening weekend thanks to a release schedule that will undoubtedly cover all market segments. According to trade projections, which are based on advance booking rates, Brahmastra may rank among the top opening day grosser of the year on the domestic market.
