With the rising concern surrounding Coronavirus, hundreds of films have hurriedly moved their release schedules or halted production altogether. Now fans of DC films got a sigh of relief after director David Sandberg confirmed the news over the sequel to Shazam.
Fans of the comic book superhero already know that the sequel stars Dwayne the Rock Johnson as the villain, Black Adam. Now the film's director has confirmed that Shazam 2 is on schedule for a 2022 release. Sandberg said that they are proceeding with shooting for the film. Sandberg added saying that they are proceeding with immense caution.
The filmmaker said, "We'll see how long this goes, because I mean, we were going to start shooting this year," he said. "But, I mean, who knows how long this will go on? It feels like every movie gets delayed now, so we'll see what happens with Shazam!."
Sandberg also confirmed that he is currently working on the script and taking care of all necessary things.
"So far, I've been working on the script," he continued. He added saying, "We can still do that, so that's being done and then, yeah, we'll just see in a couple of months how it looks, you know?"
Shazam 2 will reprise Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as Billy Batson and his superhero counterpart Shazam respectively. Dwayne Johnson's character Black Adam is a villain in DC comics where he possesses the same powers as Shazam. Johnson recently promised his fans that he is taking his super superhero appearance extremely seriously.
