Director Mani Ratnam and Shankar are two of the prolific filmmakers in Kollywood. Often, the two directors are seen spending time with several other filmmakers in a get-together. Recently, we saw photos of Mani Ratnam, Shankar, Vetri Maaran, Gautham Menon, Mysskin, Sasi, Lingusamy, Vasanthabalan, and Balaji Sakthivel celebrating young director Lokesh Kanagaraj's birthday. Now, it looks like the directors did not just meet on a friendly basis, but they had a solid plan behind the association. Kollywood is abuzz with rumors that Mani Ratnam and Shankar have joined hands to start a new production house named Rain on Films Private Limited. They have also finalized the first project of the production house.

 
According to reports, the first production venture of Rain On Films will be Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film after Vikram. Apart from the two directors, Vetrimaaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Lingusamy, Mysskin, Poo Sasi, Vasantabalan, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Balaji Shakthivel, and AR Murugadoss are part of the company as well. The director's gang will use Vetri Maaran's office as the hub for the production house. The production house aims at producing films and web series from established and new filmmakers in the Tamil film industry.
