Director Shankar's Anniyan Hindi Remake Lands In Deep Trouble. Details Inside

Director Shankar and producer Jayantilal Gada announced that they will be remaking Anniyan. In an announcement in April 2021, the makers announced that Ranveer Singh will play the lead role in the Hindi remake of Anniyan. The film landed in trouble and when Shankar and producer Aascar Ravichandran had a war of words over the rights of the film. Now, producer Aascar Ravichandran has filed a case against director Shankar with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC)_. Reportedly, he said, “I am going to court against Shankar and Jayantilal Gada. They cannot make the film without my consent as I own the copyright of the film and no other person has the right over it as I am the author of the movie.”

In a statement, director Shankar said that he is the owner of Anniyan's script. However, Ravichandran said that Anniyan belongs to him and that he hired Shankar to direct the film. Ravichandran also added that he will be filing a case with the Madras High Court. The SIFCC had asked Ravichandran to wait for some time as they have spoken to the film association in Mumbai. Ravichandran is waiting to see if he can hold a discussion about the Anniyan remake with Jayantilal Gada, the producer of the Hindi remake of Anniyan.
