Drishyam is unquestionably one of the most popular crime thriller franchises in Indian cinema. The Mohanlal starrer's 2013 debut film was a huge hit and was afterwards remade in all of the main Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. Later in 2021, Mohanlal and filmmaker Jeethu Joseph collaborated once again on the sequel to the Drishyam franchise, which received the OTT blockbuster label and was published on Amazon Prime Video.
Hindi and Telugu versions of the second part were also released. The public adores the Hindi remake of Drishyam 2, which stars Ajay Devgn in the title role. Following the success of the Hindi version, it was rumoured that the producers are already working on the third part in the Drishyam series. According to sources, the Malayalam and Hindi film producers are thinking about releasing both movies on the same day in order to preserve the suspense.
The Cue Entertainment recently had an interview with director Jeethu Joseph, who stated that there are no plans to release Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal and Ajay Devgn together. The hitmaker claims that the scripting of Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 has not even begun, and discussions about the plot are still ongoing. The director will begin writing the movie only after completing his next project, Ram. Jeethu Joseph further stated that the Hindi production team and the Malayalam version's creators had not even considered the possibility of a joint release date.
