Farhan Akhtar pays his tribute to the Indian Army through the lyrics from his 2014 film 'Lakshya'

Farhan Akhtar pays his tribute to the Indian Army through the lyrics from his 2014 film 'Lakshya'

Director Farhan Akhtar came out with a film in 2014 which was an interesting take at war-drama. Lakshya produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, stars Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Preity Zinta. The film follows Karan, whom the audience is introduced as a person without a set purpose. He joins the army but backs out because it is extremely tough. However, this creates conflict with his girlfriend played by Zinta, he rejoins to make her proud. The film is a coming of age story set against a fictionalized backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War. In the current circumstance of the Indo-China conflict, Akhtar extended his gratitude towards the Indian army while remembering the film.

 
The film completed 16 years and on that ocassion the director shared lyrics from its song Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe. He penned a note of gratitude along with the lyrics. He uploaded the poster of the film and wrote "कन्धों से मिलते हैं कन्धे क़दमों से क़दम मिलते हैं हम चलते हैं जब ऐसे तो दिल दुश्मन के हिलते हैं 16 years of Lakshya... an experience that’s much more than a film to me and all who created it. Respect & gratitude to the Indian Army for their inspiration and their support."
 
The characters of the film include Hrithik portrayed in the role of Karan Shergill whereas Preity portrayed the role of Romila Dutta. The film's soundtrack got composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The song included by Farhan was sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathod, Vijay Prakash and Hariharan. Lakshya was his second directorial piece which became a hit after Dil Chahta Hai.The film even won a National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song Main Aisa Kyun Hoon.
