The Farhan Akhtar starrer Toofaan will have an OTT premiere on Amazon Prime on July 16th. Farhan Akhtar took everyone by surprise when he announced that the sports drama will premiere on July 16th instead of the initial date of May 21, 2021.

Toofaan is one of 2021's most awaited sports dramas. Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter to announce the preponement of the release date.

"With humility, love and in dedication to the fighting spirit of the beautiful people of our nation, our film Toofaan will be releasing on July 16th. #ToofaanOnPrime," announced Farhan.

Directed by Rakesh Om Prakash, Toofan is being bankrolled by Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures. Toofaan marks the second collaboration for the director Rakesh Om Prakash and Farhan. The duo is teaming up after their first successful venture Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Akhtar had essayed the role of legendary Indian athlete Mikha Singh.

Touted to be an inspirational sports drama, Toofaan will feature Farhan Akhtar as a national level boxer. According to the makers of the film, Akhtar's character will be a goon from the streets of Dongri set, his rise, fall and subsequent rise as a boxer. In a press release, the makers revealed that the film will showcase the life of an orphan boy named Ajju who grows up to be a goon. Ajju meets Ananya, who motivates him to become a boxing champion. Thus, Ajju embarks on a journey and becomes Aziz Ali, a national-level boxer.

Apart from Farhan Akhtar, the film will also star actors Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur and Hussain Dalal.

Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar has two more films in his kitty. He will next appear in Yudhra, and Don 3. Farhan will be filling in the director's seat for Don 3.
