The new narrative tells the true story of three girls in Kerala. It was originally captioned "The Story of 32,000 Families.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court refused to intervene urgently in the petition against the controversial film The Kerala Story. Senior lawyer Kapil Sibil said that he will look into all possible ways to prevent the release of the film and will file a detailed plea before the Chief Justice tomorrow.
Lawyer Nizam Pasha approached the Supreme Court, alleging that The Kerala Story is a film promoting hate propaganda. A special application was filed before the bench, which hears petitions against hate speech.
But a bench comprising Justices KM Joseph and Nagaratna refused to entertain the matter as an application in another case. The film is released with the permission of the Censor Board. The court asked whether to approach the High Court against the Censor Board. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the complainant, requested the court see the trailer for the film. Justice KM Joseph said that he had seen the report on TV. The court refused to intervene in the petition and decided to mention the matter before the Chief Justice and file a detailed petition. At the same time, the Censor Board had suggested that the reference made by former Chief Minister VS Achuthandadan about the conversion movements in Kerala be removed from the film. Director Sudipto Sen says the reference will be used in a different way, though a direct response will be avoided.
