Freddy, in which Kartik Aaryan stars, will be followed by the immediate OTT release of another highly anticipated Bollywood movie. Govinda Naam Mera, starring Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, and Kiara Advani, will debut on a streaming platform. However, the creators have kept their streaming partner and release date a secret.
It is obvious that the future movie will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar given that Govinda Naam Mera was purchased by Star Network for Rs. 62 crores. It was reported in August of this year. It's a comedic entertainer, but in today's society, it's probably not the kind of movie that works best on the big screen, according to a source familiar with the project. As a result, the producers chose a direct-to-digital premiere.
The source also stated that Star Network had purchased the satellite and digital rights for Rs. 62 crores. The insider had detailed the matter, saying that “the digital rights are valued at Rs. 42 crores and the satellite rights at Rs. 20 crores. The initial market expectation of Dharma Productions for Govinda Naam Mera was Rs. 80 crores, but the buyers were not too keen to spend such a big amount on the film. Finally, the deal was locked at Rs. 62 crores”.
The source came to the same conclusion, telling that "the film's budget is equivalent to the revenue fetched. The team is currently in a no-win, no-loss situation, which is still preferable to incurring losses in the modern era".
It is important to note that Govinda Mera Naam, following Drive, Gunjan Saxena, Shershaah, and Gehraiyaan, is Dharma Production's fifth movie to be released without a theatrical release.
