Gujarati film "Chhello Show (Last Film Show)" will be India's official entry at the 95th Oscars. Chhello Show (Last Film Show), directed by Pan Nalin, has been chosen as the official entry for the year, beating out big budget films RRR and Kashmir Files.

The jury unanimously selected Chhello Show from films like SS Rajamouli's "RRR," Ranbir Kapoor starrer "Brahmastra," Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files," and R Madhavan's "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect." Film Federation of India President TP Aggarwal said that the jury considered 13 films from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Gujarati languages.

The film Chhello Show tells the story of a nine-year-old boy who falls in love with cinema and is set in Saurashtra, Gujarat. Starring Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Srimali, Richa Meena, Deepen Rawal, and Paresh Mehta in lead roles, the film was screened at the 20th Tribeca Film Festival in 2021. "Even when the film received a hearty reception from all over the world, there was a heartache as to how India would find the film. But now I can breathe again and feel confident that cinema can entertain, inspire, and enlighten," commented director Pan Nalin.

India was represented at the Oscars last year by the Tamil film Koozhangal (Pebbles). But the last Indian film to make it to the Last Five list was Aamir Khan's Lagaan, released in 2001. Churuli, the Malayalam film directed by Lijo Joseph Pellissery will also represent India at the Oscars. The 95th Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 12, 2023.
