Megastar Chiranjeevi is the man who changed the face of Indian cinema, starting his film career with Punadhirallu way back in the year 1979. He is a ten-time winner of Filmfare Awards South and a four-time winner of Nandi Awards. He was the first actor from South India who got invited to the Oscars ceremony in 1987.
 
Chiranjeevi received the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honor in India in the year 2006. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Andhra University in the same year. In 2014, he was awarded the International Face of Indian Cinema at the 3rd South Indian International Movie Awards from Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
 
Choosing the top 15 from Chiranjeevi's 150 glorious movies, just to trace his acting career isn't a decent task.
 
1) Shubhalekha:
 
Subhaleka is a 1982 Comedy-drama movie, staring Sumalata in a female lead role. The producers of the movie are Allu Aravind and V. V. Sastry, under the banner of Prasanthi Creations. K. Vishwanath directed the film at a time when Chiranjeevi had started getting lead actor roles.
 
The movie at that time boldly projected one of the major social issues, which is Dowry and it scored a super hit at the box office.
 
2) Abhilasha:
 
This 1983 thriller film directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and produced by K. S. Rama Rao, stars Chiranjeevi and Raadhika in the lead roles while Rao Gopal Rao and Gollapudi Maruthi Rao playing key roles with the music composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
 
The film is based on Yandamuri Veerendranath's novel with the same name about a young lawyer striving to end capital punishment in India gets himself entangled in a murder case.
 
3) Khaidi:
 
Who would forget the name of Chiranjeevi's Khaidi? This 1983 action film directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy, staring Madhavi as heroine was a massive commercial success. The film was a breakthrough for Chiranjeevi.
 
Dr. M Tirupathi Reddy once mentioned: "The now-famous costume of Chiranjeevi was his own idea! We first thought of doing it ordinarily, but he wanted the getup to be somewhat different. At the last minute, he got black trousers and a black T-shirt from the house took off the sleeves of the shirt and had the belt above the T-shirt". The getup clicked so much that he got locked up in a few million hearts.
 
We can not deny the fact that the song "Ragulutondi mogalipoda..." is still twitching our hearts. It is his hard work that rose him to stardom through this film.
 
4) Challenge:
 
Challenge is a commercial success film in 1984 directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and produced by K. S. Rama Rao under the Creative Commercials banner, starring Chiranjeevi, Vijayashanti, Suhasini, and Rao Gopal Rao with music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. This film is based on Yandamuri Veerendranath's novel naming Dabbu to the power of Dabbu which revolves around an unemployed youngster taking up a challenge of a successful business magnet (Rao) to earn ₹50 lakh in 5 years.
 
5) Aradhana:
 
Aaradhana is a 1987 romantic film directed by Bharathiraja. It stars Chiranjeevi, Suhasini, Rajasekhar, and Radhika in important roles. The music composed by Ilaiyaraaja is still fresh as new. Allu Aravind produced this film on his home production, Geetha Arts.
 
The song "Are emaindi..." is an inspiration for the '80s and '90s fresh couples.
 
6) Swayam Krushi:
 
The film narrates the journey of a self-educated cobbler from rags to riches which has garnered Chiranjeevi the Indian Express Best Actor and the state Nandi Award for Best Actor awards for his performance. This 1987 drama film is written and directed by K. Viswanath starring Vijayashanti in the female lead role.
 
The film was screened at the International Film Festival of India, the Asia Pacific Film Festival, and the film then dubbed into Russian and was screened to special mention at the Moscow International Film Festival.
 
7) Rudraveena:
 
Rudraveena is a 1988 musical-drama written and directed by K. Balachander. Produced by Nagendra Babu's Anjana Productions, the film features Chiranjeevi and Shobana in the lead roles alongside Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan. The film portrayed the existing social issue which is caste discrimination. Rudraveena is one of Ilayaraaja's greatest masterpieces.
 
8) Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari:
 
This 1990 supernatural fantasy was a massive success, grossing ₹15 crores at the box office becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film the year and also considered to be one of the most influential Telugu films of all time. The film is directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, from a screenplay written by Rao and Jandhyala and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under his banner, Vyjayanthi Movies. The film stars Sridevi while Amrish Puri, Kannada Prabhakar, Allu Ramalingaiah, and Rami Reddy are featured in supporting roles.
 
9) Gang Leader:
 
Gang Leader is a 1991 action crime film written, directed by Vijaya Bapineedu and produced by Maganti Ravindranath Chowdary. The film stars Chiranjeevi and Vijayashanti in the lead roles, while Rao Gopal Rao, Anandaraj, Murali Mohan, and Sarath Kumar play other key roles. The soundtrack was composed by Bappi Lahiri with dance choreography by Prabhu Deva. The film dug the concept of exploitation of law enforcement by anti-social behavior completed 100 days in more than 50 theaters
 
The soundtrack was an instant hit the songs "Papa Rita" and "Vaana Vaana Velluvaye" were a rage in the entire state at that time.
 
10) Rowdy Alludu:
 
Rowdy Alludu in 1991 is directed by K. Raghavendra Rao starring Divya Bharati and Shobana is a massive hit at the box office. Chiranjeevi in a dual role proved his versatile acting skills in this action-comedy.
 
11) Aapadbandhavudu:
 
Aapadbandhavudu is a 1992 drama film written and directed by K. Viswanath. Produced by Edida Nageswara Rao starring Chiranjeevi and Meenakshi Seshadri in pivotal roles, with Jandhyala and Sharath Babu playing supporting roles. The film won five state Nandi Awards, including the Nandi Award for Best Actor, and the Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Telugu for Chiranjeevi. The film screened at the International Film Festival of India, the Asia Pacific Film Festival, and the AISFM Film Festival stole hearts.
 
"Aura Ammakuchella Alakinchi Nammadamella" and "Chukkallara Choopullara" are beautiful evergreen songs.
 
12) Master:
 
Master is a 1997 Telugu action film directed by Suresh Krissna and produced by Allu Aravind. Chiranjeevi played the lead role as Roshini, Sakshi Sivanand, Puneet Issar, and Satya Prakash played supporting roles. Music was composed by Deva while cinematography was handled by Chota K. Naidu. Chiranjeevi for the first time in his career sang a song which is "arei tammudu.." in the film. This is the first movie in the Telugu film industry to have been recorded in dts. Upon the release, the movie became a Super Hit at the box office.
 
13) Sneham Kosam:
 
Sneham Kosam is a 1999 Telugu film produced by A. M. Ratnam under the Sri Surya Movies banner. Directed by K. S. Ravikumar, starring Chiranjeevi in a dual role of father and son and Meena played the female lead role of the film. The film was released on 1 January 1999. The movie scored Chiranjeevi Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actor Award. The song "kaikaluru kanne pilla..." is that time mass mesmerizer.
 
14) Indra:
 
Indra is a 2002 faction backdrop film directed by B. Gopal and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, starring Chiranjeevi, Aarthi Agarwal, and Sonali Bendre while Mukesh Rishi and Prakash Raj play supporting roles with music composed by Mani Sharma. The film was a major commercial success, grossing more than ₹40 crores on a budget of ₹10 crores, becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film of that time and attained 2 best actor Awards for Chiranjeevi. The one famous dialogue "Veerashankar Reddy...." to this date is a cache for 90's kids.
 
15) MBBS:
 
Shankar Dada M.B.B.S. is a 2004 film directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee, starring Chiranjeevi, Srikanth, Sonali Bendre, Paresh Rawal, and Girish Karnad. This mass entertainer received positive reviews and was successful completing 100 days run at the box office. Chiranjeevi and Srikanth both won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu awards.
