During the conversation, Karan Johar asked Anil Kapoor about his view on nepotism. At first, the actor ignored such comments and said that he prefers to focus on work. But Anil Kapoor later revealed that he was scared and felt insecure seeing Jackie Shroff's growth in the early days.
Jackie Shroff was an outsider in a sense. But he got his first break in Subhash Ghai. So with that one announcement, he became a leading star. At that time I was doing small roles, doing South Indian films. Jackie's growth didn't sit well with me. I was scared when he won. But the day I signed the contract for Yash Chopra's film, I was like, 'Oh I'm fine'.'' 'I still remember he was a very gentle person. If someone comes up with an autograph book while we're shooting memories, he knows it's for his autograph. But they ask me to sign it, and I know they all came after him. But I will sign it and then he will.' Anil Kapoor remembered.
