Srinivasan's screenplays have been screened in many popular films over the years. Kadha Parayumbol was one of those films that gained attention after 2000. Mammootty and Srinivasan played the lead roles in the film, directed by M Mohanan and scripted by Srinivasan. Srinivasan played the role of Balan, a barber, in the film starring Mammootty as superstar Ashok Raj. The film was a huge success in Malayalam and was later remade in other languages, including Hindi. Now Srinivasan is talking about the script of this film. He says that the story came from thinking about the friendship between Krishna and Kuchelan. Srinivasan talks about this in an interview given to The New Indian Express.
Srinivasan says
"There are stories that suddenly catch fire. The story of the movie "Katha Parayumbol" was created in America. I went to act in a movie Made in USA. Innocent and his wife live in the apartment across from mine. On non-shooting days, Innocent's wife would cook, and we would eat. I was making a sambar to contribute to it. It was then that a flash of the story of the friendship between Kuchelan and Sri Krishna crossed my mind. It gave me an idea of how it could be done cinematically in the present time. At least one movie star should be at the level of Srikrishna. That is Mammootty's character. The last scene was the first that flashed in front of me. I wrote a lot of things right then. It became a movie after two or three years.
