Supriya Menon, producer and wife of actor Prithviraj says that the film industry is a difficult space for women. Supriya says it will be difficult for women who do not have status or film tradition to hold on to the field. She was talking on the Radio Mango Spotlight.
Supriya was asked if she has experienced any conflicts as a female producer in the film. Supriya says the fact is that she has not had any major conflicts. But she pointed out that her path was easier because she had the status as Prithviraj’s wife.
At the same time, Supriya added that she is making good use of the platform. But she also said that it is difficult for women who do not have this status or film tradition to survive in film. Supriya added that she wants more women to come to the forefront of cinema.
She says that being able to make a film in the midst of this pandemic has boosted her confidence. The film is not a tedious task for Supriya as she loves it.
“Covid was under a lot of pressure during the shooting of Kuruthi. The tension was that if anyone tested positive to Covid, the shooting would have to be stopped;” she shared. Supriya has already produced three films under the banner of her production company Prithviraj Productions. Supriya’s films include Nine, Driving License, and Kuruthi.
