Top Gun: Maverick is one of the most anticipated films of the year 2020. The film marks over 30 years since Tom Cruise jumped into the fighter aircraft for his iconic film. The original Top Gun film is still remembered as one of Tom Cruise's best works. Ever since then, Cruise has helmed many acting roles in films like Mission Impossible and all its sequels. Tom Cruise is back once again with a sequel to Top Gun. The film is titled Top Gun: Maverick. Joseph Kosinski is in the directorial chair for the film.
Top Gun: Maverick was initially slated for release on June 24, 2020. However the filmmakers had to halt all production and reschedule the release date due to the Coronavirus pandemic taking over the world. This left many fans disheartened, who have waited for a sequel to Top Gun for many years. Now in a recent interview, Joseph Kosinski has confirmed some more news about the upcoming film. He said that the crew of the film is working on post-production from their homes. "Luckily, I’m in the home stretch of post-production where, despite all the restrictions of how you can work now, I’m able to continue doing my job and finish the movie, which is pretty amazing," he added.
The director confirmed that the crew and himself want to finish working on the film as per its initial schedule. However Kosinki also said that they will hold off the film for another 6 months as they want the audience to experience it on the big screen. He added saying,"We’re sticking to our schedule and finishing the movie and just holding it for six months, which is such an interesting thing to do but it’s the right decision because this is a movie that people need to see on the big screen and if there’s no big screen, then you don’t want to release this movie. We want this to be a shared experience on as big a screen as possible."
