Director Lokesh Kanagaraj made his debut with the impressive Maanagaram. He took everyone by surprise with his second film Kaithi, which starred Karthi and Narain in lead roles. The film's stupendous success catapulted Lokesh Kanagaraj to fam and fetched him an opportunity to work with the two biggest legends in the Tamil film industry- Thalapathy Vijay and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. Recently, Ajay Devgn announced that he will be remaking Kaithi in Hindi by reprising Karthi's role. However, it looks like the Kerala court has ordered a ban on Kaithi sequel and its remake in other languages.
Many media reports suggest that the story of Kaithi was plagiarised from the life of a real-life prisoner, who was lodged at the Puzhal prison in Chennai. Producer SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures took to Twitter to reveal that they are not in a position to comment on it as they do not know the official details of the case. The press statement also suggested that they have their records clean and have nothing to worry about. They further added that he and his team will face a legal battle. Producer SR Prabhu also slammed media for glorifying this issue and condemned the unfair remarks netizens passed on the director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
