Karnam Malleswari is a popular retired Indian weightlifter. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics. Born and brought up in Amadalavalasa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnam Malleswari turned 45 today on June 1st 2020.
Karnam Malleswari who received the most honourable civilian award Padma Shri in 1999 participated in so many international weightlifting championships and received so many accolades. She has received 29 International medals which also includes 11 gold medals. She also received the Gandhi Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 1999.
When the fans have been wishing her on her birthday on social media, popular producer Kona Venkat has announced a biopic on her. "On her birthday today, we proudly announce our next, a biopic on @kmmalleswari, FIRST Indian woman to win a medal at Olympics," wrote Kona Film Corporation announcing the film.
Directed by Sanjana Reddy who made her debut with 'Raju Gadu', the details regarding the film’s cast and who will play the role of Karnam Malleswari is yet to be revealed. "The movie is going to be a multilingual pan-Indian one.
