There were a lot of expectations on Vijay's Master as it had the capability to bring in audience to the theatre and revive the Tamil film industry. Vijay's Master released in theatres with much expectation on January 13. AS expected, Master is ruling the box office as the opening day figures show that the film has grossed over Rs 40 crore in Tamil Nadu on its opening day. This is indeed a huge achievement considering that there is only 50 percent occupancy in theatres across the country.
Though the Tamil Nadu government had initially allowed 100 percent occupancy in theatres, they were forced to change the order to 50 percent after the central government interfered. However, some theatres in Chennai failed to follow the order which has gone to the notice of the Chennai police. Kasi Theatre in Chennai has been booked for the violation under sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease and causing danger to life) of the Indian Penal Code. Kasi Theatre was fined with Rs 5,000 for the same. 11 other theatres have been booked for violation of rules.
