“Kuruthi Is Something That Many Are Reluctant To Do; The Film Was Received The Way We Wanted It To:” Supriya Menon

Supriya says that she is very happy that people accepted Kuruthi in the way it was meant to. Supriya said in an interview with The Quint that a lot of responses were coming in through messages, phone calls, and reviews. She added that the film received appreciation in the way the crew and cast wanted it to be.

“We started Prithviraj Productions to present talented young people and new subjects in the film industry; to portray things any other filmmakers are probably reluctant to do. So far, Prithviraj Productions has released only 3 films. The first 'Nine' was not well received, but the later 'Driving License' was a commercial success. Even with the new release Kuruthi is something that many others are reluctant to do. Prithviraj read the script of Kuruthi while he was Covid positive. We are not trying to impose our thoughts or ideas on the audience in any way. Rather, it gives those who see it the right to make decisions. The film does not have a way of telling the story in the same direction;” said Supriya. In the interview, Supriya said that as a woman producer in Malayalam cinema, she did not have many role models to follow. She added that Malayalam cinema is still somewhat male-dominated beyond the production sector.
