Legendary Vocalist Vani Jayaram, Recipient Of The Padma Bhushan Award, Passes Suddenly

At the age of 78, the legendary vocalist Vani Jayaram passed away on Saturday. She was most recently given the Padma Bhushan Award.

In the South Indian film industry, Vani Jairam also referred to as Vani Jayaram, is a renowned playback singer. The vocalist who received a Padma Bhushan and a National Award went away on Saturday at the age of 78. Due to age-related problems, she passed away at her home in Nungambakkam, Chennai, on Haddows Road.

 
She received the Padma Bhushan award this year on Republic Day in recognition of her more than 50 years of contributions to Indian music. Sadly, Jayaram passed before she could accept the honour. Vani Jayaram began her singing career in 1971. She has since released many chart-topping singles.
 
She performed nearly 10,000 songs during a career spanning five decades. This included Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and Bengali. She also released private and devotional albums. She has collaborated with eminent composers like Madan Mohan, RD Burman, KV Mahadevan, MS Ilaiyaraaja, and OP Nayyar, among others. She performed in the musical Sankarabharanam by K. Viswanath (1979). By singing five songs and taking home her second National Film Award for the album as a whole, Vani garnered tremendous recognition thanks to this song. Poojalu Cheya, Ennenno Janmala Bandham, Or Idam Unnidam, Malarpol Sirippathu Pathinaaru, and a long list of other hit songs are among the singer's best-known songs. The renowned singer has won many accolades. This included four State Prizes, three National Awards, and international awards.
 
The South audience and celebrities have been recovering from K Vishwanath's death. Vani Jayaram's unexpected death made everyone even more distraught. Many South Indian celebrities are expressing their condolences for her death on Twitter.
