Lokesh Kanagaraj confirms a spin-off based on Suriya’s character Rolex from Vikram. The action-thriller Vikram, which debuted in theatres in June of this year, quickly became one of the most successful films ever produced in Tamil and Kamal Haasan's career. The Lokesh Cinematic Universe, sometimes known as LCU, was created by the young director and includes the multi-starrer that he wrote and directed. More movies in the franchise are already confirmed. And one of them will be a spin-off centered on the role Suriya performed.
Leading man-producer Kamal Haasan and director Lokesh Kanagaraj announced that there will be more episodes of LCU. This will include the Vikram sequel, which has been dubbed Vikram 2, and Karthi's Kaithi 2. This was said in a recent Filmmakers' Adda done by the famous online magazine Film Companion. It's interesting that Lokesh said a movie about Rolex, the role played by Suriya, is also in the works.
"Right now I'm working on a film (Thalapathy 67). After that, I have to sit with Kamal Haasan sir and have a talk first. So It is going to be Vikram 2, Kaithi 2, and Rolex." revealed Lokesh Kanagaraj. "It's a universe right, so we have all the privilege to do all kinds of films. Like, with whichever character you want, and a prequel or sequel you want. So, for the next 10 years I'm settled," he added. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan added: "We have made a promise, so it's for us to keep it up."
Vikram included Suriya in a cameo as Rolex for those who are unaware. He played the boss of Vijay Sethupathi's Santhanam, the main antagonist. The crowd was won over by the National Award-winning actor's never-before-seen image as the cold-blooded don. The conclusion of Vikram hinted that the main character, played by Kamal Haasan, and Suriya's Rolex will square off next. The recent disclosure by the actor-director team has made moviegoers giddy with anticipation.
